AND THE PEASANTS REJOICED
Date: July 2006
Composer: Paul Son
Piano: Hae-Yoon Park
Copyright © 2006This is a piece inspired by years of classical music exposure during childhood, a direct result of my mother always playing Haydn, Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms on the living room stereo 24/7. A bit of Waltz, with the blend of simple mathematic melody I hummed during my sleep. A first classical piece composition, further plans to grow this into an opera piece with vocals replacing the melody is in the works.
This song is about triumph, righteousness, and simply the clarity of victory. It is my theme of overcoming of an enemy or antagonist from oppression. It is the theme of joy and happiness from achievement and success in struggle against the odds. It’s the triumph from suffering; as when the peasants rejoice subjugated from authoritarian rule.
